Merry Christmas

So it is Christmas season, and I might finally be in the mood for it to be so. Today was very Christmassy, 4 Christmas movies, and 2 Christmas crafts completed. Today I finally finished my stocking which makes me very happy. I just need to felt it which requires borrowing a washing machine since we only have front loaders. I also have completed this years Christmas craft from my aunt. These pretty little snow men ornaments.
This year has not been very Christmassy however, mainly because between moving, and school there has been far too much going on to really get in the Christmas spirit. But hopefully now I am and can have a good rest of the year before school starts in the New Year.
It will be a very merry knitting Christmas for me and I wish for a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for you. Just in case I do not post for the rest of the year, which is possible since I do quite often forget to post.

I Know....

Yes, I know it has been forever since I have updated. Somehow life became much more busy since finishing those essays, 3 final exams and 4 more essays descended on my life and made me too busy to update for a while. Then family and hair dying also made it much more difficult, especially coupled with the moving plans that have happened. So now hopefully I will be able to update, as well as get some knitting done.

So here is my stocking, almost done. So much more completed than the last time I had posted. I have one more round to do on the double pointed needles and then the kitchner graft or whatever it is called and then I just have to felt it. This will make me much happier since it means that I have actually finished something, something that hasn't happened much lately. Especially since the dishclothes I was doing for Christmas gifts didn't even get finished on time and they were abandoned.

Since then, however, I have recieved a nice Christmas gift from Kat, a knitting book called "Pretty Knits". It has several very pretty patterns that I am very excited to try. I am already working on one and that is my second closest done project after the Christmas Stocking.

Here is my sweater that I have started from the "Pretty Knits" book. It is already 6.5" long and just needs to get to 20.5" before I decrease. So far I'm actually getting somewhere with this. I think it is because I am working in 4 row sections of each colour and then switiching. I think that helps me feel like I'm getting somewhere.

And here is a picture of the sweater that will be concluded hopefully in the near future.
Well good knitting. New post soon.

DONE!!!!

So I am finally done my essays, excpet for the editing of the last two essays. This is the massive binder that contains all the research, and copies of edited essays for the last three weeks of my life. I wasn't sure if all of the crap for these essays would fit in one binder, but it has. I do have to add two more edited copies of essays to this binder but I'm sure it can hold 26 more pages of paper. My brain is now completely shot so you can't hold it against me if none of my sentences are coherent.

It has to do with the fact that this is my fourth of these massive energy drink that I've had since Tuesday, also that is not my only source for caffein, I've also had several pots of strongly brewed caffinated tea.

I am just soooooooo happy that they are done now that I am beside myself. I don't even want to edit anything until I have had several hours of break. It is scary that I actually managed to get three essays done while going to school full time. I think I only missed one and a half classes which is amazing. Usually I am only able to get one essay done in a weekend. I wish you could see my day planner for hte last two weeks. It is scribbled all over, there are check marks and things crossed off and some highlighting as well as the awesome happy face stickers that are there to make sure I don't start to cry when I see that things are due.

Onto happier things. Mainly knitting. Here is the beginning of my stocking that will be felted, with Fair Isle pattern, before Christmas comes around. I am very happy that next weekend I can knit to my hearts content. Also aren't the poptarts in the background distracting you and making you crave them :p.

I think that is all that I wish to say now since I'm ready to pass out despite the massive amounts of caffien coursing through my system.

Wish me luck and hopefully I'll update before too long.

I am alive

Just wanted to post saying I am alive, though I'm sure most of you know that already. I have barely gotten any knitting done since the last post. I did however, but all the yarn I need to knit a massive sweater, which since then I have restarted 3 times but it is on its way now. The problem is that all knitting projects are on hold until after I finish my dishclothes for christmas gifts. Which makes me fairly sad because they are rather boring to do. Also all knitting is on hold until I get some more of my essays done so far I am 3 for 3 and they start being due this Friday. Good Luck for me...

The Knitting Has Resurfaced

So this week has been fairly easy and productive so far. I have had a mid-term and have managed to finish my new hat. I think this hat will go very well with a purple hirt and plan on figuring this out later this week. I have also finished one book and am most of theway through another. The book I finished is something that every knitter should read. It is "Stephanie Pearl-McPhee Casts Off" and has inspired me to take on a new fairly complicated knitting project. I want to be able to knit a sweater that is made to fit instead of following a pattern and hoping that it will fit. I have bought another three books on top of the two that I am in the process of. I have also started two new projects. A pair of slippers and a bolero for Kat. I have also started the front of the sweater but so far that is not going so well, after a mishap in the theatre last night I have had to start it again.
I am very excited to be off to Abbotsford in less than 48 hours now. This also means that I have 3 hours of ferry time in which I can knit. But I have also found a yar shop in Abbotsford that I want to explore. So this means I may come back with much more yarn that I left with. This is not necessarily a bad thing since I have recently discovered that if I need more than one skein of yarn for a project I have to go out and buy new yarn since I only have single skeins left in my stash. I am off for now since I want to get back to my knitting, I think I'm going to work on the bolero for a while before getting back to the slippers, the sweater is still annoying me.
Happy knitting.

Weeks End

It is nearly the end of my crazy crazy week at school. I am very excited about this fact, except that this wekeend I have to start and finish a group project, write a two page outline for an essay that I haven't even started to think about, and study for an exam on Monday.
There are no pictures this time around because not only is my knitting about 2 inches long, after pulling out my skirt and giving up for now and insead starting a hat. It's very pretty but not so long quite yet. My room is also a complete mess even though I have managed to clean parts of it.
Well wish me luck and hopefully by next weekend I can start my knitting again (especially on the three hours of ferry time I will have) and have a picute of this hat for you after Halloween.

BAAAAAAAAAH!

I am posting for the record that I am not supposed to be on here. I am supposed to be studying for my 5 mid-terms next week and finishing off a 15 page paper. But nooooo I've been harrassed into doing another post about why I'm not posting more often. Did I mention the 5 MIDTERMS NEXT WEEK! Not to mention this stupid paper, all it does is remind me of a comment someone made about me this summer, the point being that my fingers move faster than my brain sometimes, so that when I'm typing there is rapid typing for a minute or so and then a pause as I think of what I want to say next and then more rapid typing. Of course it helps that all the people I worked with this summer typed at like 10 words a minute, whereas me (not bragging I swear) can type 60 words a minute if I'm jazzed up on caffeine and not worrying about how many spelling mistakes there are.
Anyways you will all be happy to note that I have currently cast on 50 of the 90 stitches for the front of the sweater, it only took me 3 tries to remember how much yarn it takes to cast on 90 stitches (it's a lot). And next post I will take a picture of the cool dishcloth that I finished while watching a movie last night. That makes 3 dish clothes down and 4 to go.
Mmmm, side note, I have officially made the best coffee ever thanks to food network and Alton Brown, which makes me so happy since its raining so hard that I don't want to go outside let alone get to Starbucks for my venti americano.
I am now off to the land of banging my head against a wall while I wait for the words to come to me so I can finish my essay.
Oh and I'm going out later to get new yarn!!!! Yarn to make the skirt that I like out of "It Girl Knits" which means that I will hopefully, at some point have a new skirt to wear and not have to go buy one.

Happy knitting and wish me luck.

Turkey Weekend

So this weekend is the ultimate weekend for eating and possibly for knitting. I'm heading home in less than an hour and a half to do laundry, make some cookies and knit if I get around to it. I like to think that I'll start the front half of my sweater and make some good progress for it too. This may be just wishful thinking however since I also have to do a take home midterm.
So you can wish me lucky knitting since I'm heading home and ready to get knitting.

Lack of Knitting

So I realized today that a blog strictly about knitting will not get many posts from me until Christmas. Mainly because I have way too much homework to do to get much knitting done in my free time, and I'd much rather eat than knit during TV. So today is all about how my hip hurts because I went all out at the gym, and about how seven hours of class in a day really really really sucks.
So I had a group presentation first thing this morning. Not only do I have to leave 20 minutes earlier than normal but when I get there nobody else is there for at least 5 minutes with the latest person showing up with 20 minutes later. I was upset because I had run across campus thinking I was going to be late and had run out of the house barely prepared at all. So that went on alright. But by the time my last class rolls around, ending at six pm, my brain was totally fried and though I took three pages of frantic notes I'm not quite sure if I understood or absorbed anything. So that is my rant about how seven hours of class is not productive or heathy. Also I think my mondays next term consist of 10 hours of class, therefore I'm totally dropping at least one of those classes.
Went to the gym today, hurrah for me, and went on the elliptical. Not so good since the last time I was on the elliptical I left the gym almost crying because my hip and knee were in so much pain. But the AMT's were busy and I don't do treadmills or bikes if I can help it. So I was doing good and not feeling any pain, and ended up doing 35 minutes on it to try and let my friend get in her work out to before I said I'm leaving. Now I am totally regretting it and don't know how I'm going to sleep.

But anyways I need to get some slep since I have to get up and do laundry in the morning, then go apply for a job and harrass people into giving me a new 360 along with course readings for tomorrows 3 hour lecture. So I doubt much knitting is going to take place anyways.

Fun, fun.

P.S. I have finished the back of my sweater, there will be pictures to follow but since I'm not quite sure how to continue the sweater is on hold and I'm working on wash cloths for Christmas gifts..

Evil Sweater

So as you can see from the picture of my sweater it is like 3 inches shorter than a couple days ago. So I realized when I was working on it that I had been decreasing improperly for the armholes. THAT I HAD FINISHED DOING! So now I have to redo the arm holes which is making me upset. I want to get it back to where it was this weekend but with the multitude of readings that I have to do (I might post a picture of those next time) along with all the other things that need to be done I have a sinking feeling that it won't get done. At least I have all sorts of time during my tv shows to knit. It just makes me so sad.

The Sweater

So I've finally decided I can allow myself to escape from homework long enough to put up another post. And as you can see I've given you a picture of what I have managed on my sweater so far. This is the back and I've finally started to decrease for my sleeves. I'm rather excited because I'm going from 90 stitches across down to 58 which means its soooooooo much easier to finish a row.
So when I was taking this picture I pinned down the sweater and figured it would be easy to grab my camera and take the picture. BUT NO! I couldn't find my camera. I remembered where it was before school but no it wasn't there anymore. So I tore apart my room looking for the camera. When I finally found it I rolled over the sweater with my chair So this picture more annoys me than make me feel accomplished for getting this done but what can you do? Nothing!
I found a knitting club downtown thats on Friday nights for a couple hours. I figure since I can never spend more than 10 to 20 minutes straight working on a piece this might be a way for me to actually accomplish something. We'll see and I'll update you if I actually go in two days.
Now that I'm feeling sufficiently guilty for avoiding homework for a little while longer I will get back to it.
Enjoy.

Am I crazy or what?

This is the part where you all yell "yes!" Since I want to write about knitting and barely have enough time to knit due to school alone and yet I want to write about it. Since I'm writing this while waiting for my next class to start, instead of doing readings of course, next post I'll add a picture of one of my current projects. My favorite one at this point which is my sweater. But this post which is only going to be partially related to knitting will probably be how I end up posting for this blog. Which what I'm trying to say is this is supposed to be about knitting and about 90% of the time it probably will not be.
The reason for this post is I was thinking while in my last class that professors should just post all their lectures through podcasts. And then students could either send questions through email or post a video reply to the podcast. Because then you wouldn't feel the need to take notes. And I would totally knit while listening to these podcasts. Plus then you if you insisted on taking notes you could just go back a little to find out what the professor said instead of interrupting the class to find out what they said. They also need to find a way to make it so its much easier to multitask. I spend like 70% of my free time doing readings for my class which I think is nearly ridiculous. So all books should be audioized so that it would be so much easier to listen to them and do something that just requires your hands.

I can't remember anything else.
So happy knitting.
